Day 1: Into the Wild

We’ll pick you up at 8:30 AM in Whitehorse. Coffee in hand, last snacks grabbed, and then… we’re out.

We roll toward Haines Junction, where we stop at the visitor centre to get a feel for the land we’re about to step into. Maps, stories, big landscapes ahead.

We hit the trail for our first hike, just enough to shake off the travel legs and get a taste of what’s coming. Open views, quiet space, and that first moment where you realize… yeah, this place is wild.

By late afternoon, we take it off-grid.

The Squatch Bus finds a spot you won’t find on Google Maps. Riverside, mountains all around, zero noise except nature doing its thing.

Dinner outside. Fire going. People you just met already feel like your crew.

Welcome to the Yukon.

Day 2 to 4: Deep into Kluane

Each morning starts with breakfast at camp before we head out toward the next trail.

Over the next few days, we explore deeper into Kluane National Park and Reserve, choosing hikes based on conditions, weather, and how the group is feeling.

Some days are bigger pushes, with longer distances and solid elevation. Other days are more about taking it in, moving slower, and spending time in the landscape.

Possible hikes include:

  • King’s Throne
  • Bullion Plateau
  • Mount Decoeli
  • Sheep Mountain or Sheep Creek

Each route offers something different, from alpine ridgelines to wide-open valleys shaped by glaciers like the Kaskawulsh Glacier.

At some point during these days, we make our way to Kluane Lake. If conditions allow, there’s the option to get out on the water and paddle, surrounded by mountains and open space in every direction.

One evening, we slow things down in a different way. We gather around the fire for a cultural experience led by a citizen of the Kluane First Nation, sharing stories and insights that connect you more deeply to the land you’ve been exploring.

By the end of Day 4, you’ve covered serious ground, seen different sides of Kluane, and settled into the rhythm of being out here.

Day 5: A Final Taste of Adventure

On our final morning, we’ll take our time to enjoy the last moments of this incredible adventure. After packing up camp, we’ll gather by the lake for a peaceful sunrise — sip your coffee, take in the stillness, or even jump in for a refreshing swim. Once we’ve packed up and said our goodbyes to the wilderness, we’ll begin our journey back to Whitehorse.

Along the way, we’ll decide together as a group what our final stop will be — one last shared adventure before heading back to town. We’ll arrive in Whitehorse by late afternoon, and we’ll make sure to get you safely to your chosen drop-off point.

  • Our vanlife adventures are best suited for adventurous, open minded travelers who enjoy an active pace, shared spaces, and a social atmosphere. Life on the Squatch Bus is a bit like a small dorm on wheels, so a positive attitude, flexibility, and excitement for the adventure are a big part of the experience. If that sounds like your kind of trip, you’ll probably fit right in.

Fitness level - what to expect?

This trip is designed for active adventurers who love the outdoors and aren’t afraid to break a sweat. You don’t need to be an elite athlete, but you should feel comfortable spending full days outside, hiking on uneven terrain, and gaining elevation.

We’ll tackle daily hikes ranging from 8 to 25 km, with up to 1,500 meters of elevation gain. Trails will take us through rugged landscapes, with some steep sections, rocky footing, and even a bit of light scrambling. You’ll also get a taste of vertical movement with an intro to rock climbing session—no experience needed, just a willingness to try something new.

If you’ve got a sense of adventure, an appreciation for big views and wild places, and the energy to embrace full days in nature (and maybe get a little dirty along the way), you’ll feel right at home.
