Embark on a 6-day, 5-night guided backpacking adventure through the breathtaking Cottonwood Trail in Kluane National Park. This moderate to challenging hiking trip In the wild Yukon takes you deep into one of Canada’s most stunning wilderness areas, offering a perfect mix of adventure, stunning landscapes, and backcountry camping.
Start your journey with a relaxing night at our unique modified school bus base camp in Haines Junction where we’ll provide all the necessary gear and preparation for the hike ahead. After a thorough briefing, you’ll head out to the Kathleen Lake Day-Use Area to kick off your hike, with the guidance of an ACMG-certified guide.
Over the next five days, you’ll hike through alpine meadows, glacier valleys, and pristine forests, camping under the stars each night. You’ll be treated to breathtaking views of glaciers, rivers, and towering mountain peaks as you hike along the 85 km loop of the Cottonwood Trail.
Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a first-time adventurer, this trip is designed to help you connect with nature while providing expert guidance every step of the way.

Disclaimer: You don't need to be an Olympic athlete to join us on this adventure! Our ACMG-certified guide will be with you every step of the way, providing guidance, support, and expertise throughout the trip. However, please note that this is a physically demanding trip that involves long days of hiking and carrying a backpack. Participants should be in good physical condition and prepared to handle a full day of hiking with elevation gains. Day 1
Arrive, Get Ready, and Kick Back
We’ll kick things off by meeting in Haines Junction and settling into our cozy modified school bus base camp. We’ll go over the gear list, get your backpack packed, and prep the food—don’t worry, we’ll make sure you’re all set for the hike! Then, it’s time to relax, enjoy some downtime, and maybe even grab a drink on our rooftop patio while you soak in the Kluane views. It's a chill start to your big adventure—let’s make sure you’re rested and ready for Day 2!

Start the Hike – Haines Junction to First Campsite
Time to hit the trail! After breakfast, we’ll head to the Kathleen Lake Day-Use Area to begin our hike. We’ll ease into the adventure with beautiful alpine meadows and dense forests. After covering the first 18-20 km, we’ll set up camp in a backcountry campsite, where you can unwind, share stories with your fellow hikers, and enjoy a hot meal under the stars. You’ve earned it!

Hike to the Second Campsite
Rise and shine—it’s time to keep trekking! Today, we’ll make our way further into Kluane National Park, passing glacier-fed streams and rugged mountain terrain. We’ll climb a bit more and enjoy breathtaking views of glaciers and valleys. After about 20-22 km, we’ll set up camp at our second stop. It’s the perfect place to kick back, relax, and reflect on the stunning scenery.

Onward to the Third Campsite
Let’s keep those legs moving! Today’s hike takes us deeper into the wilderness, offering even more epic views of Kluane’s landscapes. As we pass through alpine meadows and rugged terrain, you might spot some wildlife—mountain goats, moose, and birds. We’ll settle at our third campsite after 20-25 km. Enjoy a well-earned rest in a beautiful spot surrounded by nature.

Hike to the Final Campsite
It’s the home stretch! We’ll start our descent today as we make our way towards the Mush Lake Road area. This will be a more relaxing day as we move through lush forests and past glacial-fed rivers. After 15-18 km, we’ll set up our final campsite. Let’s take it all in—this is your last night in the wild, so enjoy it!

Final Hike and Return to Haines Junction
’s the final day of our adventure! We’ll wrap up our journey by hiking the last stretch of the Cottonwood Trail, heading toward the Mush Lake Road trailhead. After taking in the last of the stunning views, we’ll arrive at the trailhead where we’ll say goodbye to the wilderness. If you joined us from Whitehorse on Day 1, we’ll be driving you back, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride as we head home. Whether you’re coming from Haines Junction or Whitehorse, you’ll leave with amazing memories from your 6-day adventure in Kluane National Park.

In the case of extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances on our end, we will work with you to reschedule or offer a full refund.
A 25% deposit is required upon reservation to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 1 month before the trip. This ensures your spot and helps us prepare for your visit.
