NEW TRIP — Guided in collaboration with Kluane Outdoor Inspirations

This trip is offered in partnership with Kluane Outdoor Inspirations, a local guiding company based at Kluane Lake in Silver City and owned by a citizen of Kluane First Nation, bringing deep local knowledge and extensive experience in the Kluane region.

Travel deep into the winter landscapes of the Kluane Lake region for a full-day northern immersion that blends adventure, culture, and warmth.

We depart Whitehorse in the morning and follow the Alaska Highway toward the edge of Kluane National Park and Reserve. As we leave town behind, the landscape opens into wide valleys, frozen shoreline, and snow-covered peaks rising sharply from Kluane Lake.

After gearing up, we step onto the snow for a guided two-hour snowshoe journey through quiet winter terrain. We move at a steady pace, gaining perspective on the scale of the mountains and the raw stillness that defines this region in winter. There are no crowds here. Just open space, mountain air, and the steady rhythm of travel across snow.

In the afternoon, we gather for an extended two-hour cultural fireside session led by a citizen of Kluane First Nation. This is dedicated time for storytelling, questions, and shared perspectives on the land you have just traveled across. Sitting by the fire after moving through the landscape adds depth to the experience — the mountains outside and the stories inside connected in a tangible way.

As the afternoon light softens, we step into a heated cabin tucked near the lake — a small, welcoming space filled with character. Old wooden snowshoes hang on the walls, weathered tools and northern artifacts quietly reflect winters past. It’s the kind of place that feels lived in, not staged.

Inside, we share warm food and beverages, including locally prepared bannock, while boots thaw near the fire and the day begins to settle.

Outside, a wood-fired barrel sauna waits. Guests take turns warming up inside before stepping back into the sharp winter air — steam rising into the cold, mountains darkening against the sky. Simple. Traditional. Deeply northern.

We return to Whitehorse later in the evening, carrying the memory of movement, stories, warmth, and a full day spent on the land.
