7-Day Northern Yukon Guided Hiking Adventure

This trip is designed for active adventurers who love the outdoors and aren’t afraid to break a sweat. You don’t need to be an elite athlete, but you should feel comfortable spending full days outside, hiking on uneven terrain, and gaining elevation.

We’ll tackle daily hikes ranging from 8 to 25 km, with up to 1,500 meters of elevation gain. Trails will take us through rugged landscapes, with some steep sections, rocky footing, and even a bit of light scrambling. You’ll also get a taste of vertical movement with an intro to rock climbing session—no experience needed, just a willingness to try something new.

If you’ve got a sense of adventure, an appreciation for big views and wild places, and the energy to embrace full days in nature (and maybe get a little dirty along the way), you’ll feel right at home.

Good morning, explorers! We’ll meet in Whitehorse, help you stow your gear, do a quick Squatch Bus familiarization, and hit the road as a group. Our journey north takes us along the scenic Klondike Highway, with stops at Braeburn Lodge (home of the legendary giant cinnamon buns) and the dramatic Five Finger Rapids lookout.

From there, we roll onto the legendary Dempster Highway, a road trip like no other. Picture snow‑capped peaks, sweeping tundra valleys, and endless wilderness stretching as far as the eye can see. This drive is your first real taste of the wild Yukon, where every bend reveals another postcard view.

By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at Tombstone Territorial Park, our base for the next few days. Towering mountains, crystal‑clear alpine lakes, and wide‑open spaces will be our backyard. Once camp is set up, the rest of the day is yours to explore, relax, or take in the vast Arctic landscape.

As evening settles in, we’ll gather around the campfire, sharing stories and laughs under the long summer twilight. With the stars overhead and nothing but the sounds of the wild around us, this is what vanlife in the Yukon is all about. Get some rest—tomorrow the real adventures begin

For the next few days, we're diving deep into the wild heart of Tombstone Territorial Park. This isn't your average hiking trip. Our days are spent crossing vast tundra valleys, bouncing over mossy ground, roaming along ridgelines, and finding our own way through trackless terrain where trails barely exist. Every step feels like an adventure, with endless Arctic vistas and a true sense of remoteness.

One of the highlights is hiking to Grizzly Lake, an emerald-green jewel surrounded by jagged peaks and one of the Yukon's most iconic landscapes. The journey there is just as unforgettable, taking us through alpine meadows, rocky passes, and ridges that feel like they lead to the edge of the world.

Along the way, we'll discover hidden corners of this spectacular landscape while soaking in views few people ever get to experience. The long northern summer days give us plenty of time for big hikes, route finding, and those quiet moments surrounded by the vast tundra.

As the day winds down, we'll return to the Squatch Bus—our home on wheels—and camp wherever the adventure takes us. Evenings are for campfires, hearty meals, and sharing stories beneath the Yukon’s endless twilight. These are the days that make Tombstone unforgettable.

After a few unforgettable days in the rugged landscapes of Tombstone, it's time to leave the tundra behind and make our way to the legendary gold rush town of Dawson City. If time allows, we'll squeeze in one final short hike before hitting the road.

Once in Dawson, we'll try our luck at gold panning before exploring this quirky little town, with its wooden boardwalks, historic saloons, and colourful Klondike charm. We'll wrap up the adventure with a group dinner before heading out to experience Dawson after dark.

And if you're feeling brave, there's one final Yukon tradition waiting—the infamous Sour Toe Cocktail. It might just be the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable week in the North.

After a week of epic adventures, we’ll pack up and hit the road back to Whitehorse. On the drive, we’ll reminisce about all the wild memories we’ve made, from the breathtaking Tombstone peaks to the quirky charm of Dawson City.

We’ll arrive in Whitehorse late in the evening, and when we do, we’ll drop you off wherever you need to go—whether it’s your hotel, a friend’s place, or wherever your next adventure awaits. But before we part ways, don’t forget to leave your mark on the Squatch Bus! Write a message, doodle something, or just leave your initials to become part of our adventure history.

It’s a bittersweet farewell, but your Yukon memories will stay with you forever.

Cancellation Schedule

• More than 90 days before departure: Full refund less a 4% payment processing fee and $100 CAD administrative fee
• 90 to 61 days before departure: 25% of the total trip cost is non-refundable
• 60 days or less before departure: 100% of the total trip cost is non-refundable

If you are unable to attend your trip, please contact us as soon as possible. Subject to availability and operational considerations, we may be able to offer a trip transfer, participant substitution, or trip credit.
